Cheshire-based wedding photographer Adam Roberts talks us through this moment, expertly captured on the stunning shores of Lake Como in Italy prior to a destination wedding he photographed earlier this year.
I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding in Italy, so when I was booked to photograph at Villa Cipessi in Verenna, I was over the moon.
On the morning of the wedding I arrived to photograph the guys getting ready, the first words that came out of the groom’s mouth were “fancy a swim?”. I politely declined on the basis that I didn’t have my Speedos with me, but of course, I was happy to photograph the guys leaping into the lake.
I’d seen images at this location before, but I wanted to give them something different. When we arrived at the shore I asked the guys to jump from the jetty instead of the beach area.
I really wanted to capture the whole scene, to portray a sense of location. I had to include the mountain in the background so I had to find a way to get everything in the frame. I ended up having to wade about a metre into the lake to capture the scene I wanted.
