Daphne Matthys
Hi! I’m Daphne Matthys, a Belgium based, documentary wedding photographer.
I’ve been shooting my whole life, but the real adventure began in 2017 while capturing International events worldwide, weddings and families.
For me, photography is a medium to counter time by capturing the moment. When the shutter button becomes a pause button in life, and freezes time. My images provoke emotions and transport the viewer back to that specific and unique moment.
At weddings, I am attracted by the most atypical moments, authentic moments that could so easily be forgotten, the beauty of imperfections. While connecting with everyone and absorbing the emotions of the moment, my heart becomes my view. Making the story complete and meaningful while capturing people’s true essence.
Feeling all those emotions and impressions during the day is a true blessing. Photography isn’t a job for me, but a real lifestyle, a passion, in which I can leave loving memories.
I’m truly flattered to be asked to judge on PKIR & I’m looking forward to seeing all the entries and the incredible work.

Hello. I’m Damion, a wedding photographer based in Buckinghamshire, capturing weddings all across the UK and a splattering of Europe. I’m drawn towards the natural, authentic and real wedding day images and I think that is reflected in my own approach and portfolio. I look for emotion and/or humour in my images, layering and composition.
When I’m not at a wedding, I co-run a photography training company called The Trained Eye.
As a long time member of PKIR, I’m delighted to be supporting the community and judging the best Photographers who are keeping it real.

Hello. My name is Gaëlle, I am a French photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. I strongly believe that the art of photography lies in the ability to capture a fleeting moment, a gesture of love, a tear of joy, a hug between friends, in its purest and most unadulterated form. Weddings are a celebration of life that everyone takes part in.
I am deeply honoured to be a judge for this collection as the PKIR association represents the same documentary values I stand for.
I don’t think I have a certain style, I am just into real moments, natural light and colours. I always talk to everyone on the wedding day including the family and guests. I am often asked if I am a friend of the couple or part of the family! I think by being personable, people feel really comfortable with me, so it is much easier to blend in and capture real moments.
Daniel Ackerley-Holmes
Hello, I’m Daniel Ackerley, I have a rubbish beard, the laugh of an ‘evil genius’ (not my words), and I specialise in fun, vibrant, quirky and naturally captured wedding photography.
I have been doing this now for around 15 years, 11 as a professional, and I stumbled into this like of work from the film and music industry as I had no ambitions to shoot weddings…funny how life works out.
I also have a second career as an internationally published music photographer, I own and DJ at a monthly alt club night, I play baseball for Cambridge Lancers, I am addicted to vinyl records, and I think my
cats are just as important to me as my wife.
Oh, and I love a cuppa…
