Patrick Mateer (M & G Wedding Photography)

Hi, I’m Patrick and I’m a wedding photographer based in Yorkshire. I work with Hollie, who is also a photographer – and we’re married, too!

Hollie and I share the same passion for photography, and we really love what we do. We shoot weddings all over the UK. When not shooting weddings together, Hollie handles the editing while I get on with the business side of things.

I have always been drawn to photography that captures authentic and real moments – and I think you can see this in my own work. I document people and photograph those moments on a wedding day that may become poignant looking back. They don’t have to be highly emotional moments as, for instance, humour can be poignant too; or just simply capturing a group of people together, enjoying the day as it unfolds.

In the quiet moments – and there are many – I seek out gestures; you’ll see a lot of hands and feet in my work! I use the abstract form revealed through shape and colour to create visually interesting and, hopefully, meaningful images. But people are always at the heart of my photography.

I have been member of ‘Photographers Keeping It Real’ for over two years now alongside Hollie. It will be an honour to be a judge this round. I’m looking forward to seeing the images that are entered from what I know is such a creative community.

Hi, I am Linda, a documentary wedding photographer from the Netherlands, where I live with my husband, two children and our cat Kiwi.

I am a big sucker for romance and love stories. So my wedding photography is all about that. With my wedding photography I see it as my most important task to capture the identity of my wedding couple and translate that into my images. I do this in a fun and spontaneous way – Keeping it as real as possible.

That’s also what makes me super honoured to be a judge for this round, as Photographers Keeping It Real really pushes the way I believe wedding photography should look like. Real genuine images of people enjoying an important milestone in their life.

When I am not working on weddings or personal projects I love to go out with my family. We have our own campervan and when time and travel restrictions allow us we love to go abroad and be outside in nature, have some hikes and mostly just hang around listening to good music and having a good glass of wine.

Martin Hecht

Hey – my name is Martin and I come from Göppingen. I love to take pictures of people especially the lovebirds at a wedding.

I have been taking photos since 2009 and have been shooting weddings since 2011. Oh then this year I have an anniversary (whoop whoop!).

Unfortunately, the pandemic leaves us with hardly any air to breathe and we all have a hard fight, weddings don’t take place, are postponed or cancelled, but I am sure that we will come out of this stronger.

I would describe my photographic style as authentic and a bit crazy. Black and white is colour enough, but sometimes it can of course be a bit colourful too. The main thing for me is that the pictures are real, candid and honest. I want my couples to recognise themselves in their pictures and be who they are.

I am married and have two wonderful daughters, I love Thailand and Italy and I look forward to being able to travel again with my loved ones at some point.

And now I am happy to be a judge at the PKIR Spring Awards too.

Sanne De Block

Hi! I’m Sanne, a wedding photographer from Antwerp, Belgium.

I have a passion for documentary photography as I feel it’s the most authentic way of telling stories.

Ever since I started my professional photography journey in 2017 I’ve been on a mission to not only show the beauty of pure emotions and the excitement of a wedding day, but also the banality that automatically comes with that.

As human beings we all strive for the same thing: to love, be loved and find happiness.

I find it fascinating that a wedding day combines all of those ideas into one big event.
